1976 Mercedes Benz 450 SL

What a machine!  I love this rig because the car is somewhat classy. It is supposed to do 160mph, but I've only taken it to 130mph. It isn't quick off the line at all, but sure rolls along at a nice clip.  As long as you keep pouring fuel into her, she'll go like the wind. The car looks like it could have just driven off the showroom floor, as there isn't a scratch anywhere on the entire auto.

It has an interesting story.  We went back East to spend a week or so with our friends Nick and Marsha Nicolia at their summer place on Lake Gaston, NC.  While there, I negotiated to buy a Cessna 175 airplane. So we were going to drive up to finish the deal on the airplane, but first we wanted to go visit our friends, Doug and Judy Robinson who live in nearby Roxboro, NC. We were in a hurry to get to the plane in Pennsylvania, so we could only visit Doug and Judy for one day. As we pulled into the garage of their mansion by the country club, Pam noticed this Benz for sale.  Long story short, I bought it and he had it shipped to Arizona.     Boy, do I feel so lucky to have her.

One little problem! She has no name. Do you have any suggestions?  If you do, let me know and maybe we'll name the car.  It has to have a name, doesn't it?

Grandpa with Nate enjoying the Arizona sunshine!

Kim, from Australia, kinda liked driving the beast, too!

Can you see his smile?

When I first laid eyes on her!

It is fast, but not quick!

Looks pretty classy with the hard top on!

I keep her under the wing of my Luscombe 8F.

Sunny day in Arizona, but not a warm day!
