CESSNA 175 - BUCKEYE! - SOLD

(as in Ohio State University Buckeyes.... Scarlet and Gray)

What a wonderful airplane.  I bought this from a guy that lived in Pennsylvania.  I saw it on eBay and was able to make a good deal.  It happens that I was visiting Nick and Marsha Nicolia at their condo on Lake Gaston, NC, at the time. Bought the plane sight unseen one night. The next day we drove to visit our friends, Doug and Judy Robinson, in Roxboro, NC and bought their Benz.  The following day we drove to Pennsylvania and inspected the airplane.   That was a very expensive trip!

Buckeye was a joy to fly.  It had a 175 horsepower engine that drove a fixed pitch prop via gears.  They call it a "Geared" engine.  A lot of people don't like geared engines because if you don't follow the published procedures, you'll damage the engine.  However, if you fly "By the Book", the geared 175 engine will perform as advertised.

It is a real fast Cessna that carries a pretty nice load.  We often carried 4 adults, full fuel, 100+ degree temps, out of a 3,300 foot elevation field with no problem.  It would cruise at 130 or 135 mph.  What a nice plane.

However, I purchased the airplane with the intention of renting it out and using it in flight instruction.  It just isn't a plane for a flight school.  It is more suited to use as a personal flyer.  Nice way to get from point A to point B at only 9 gallons per hour! Because of its unsuitability for rental and training, I sold it.  Some guy got a really good deal.  Often I wish I still had the plane.
